Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday night with a 4-0 showing at Colby (4-2) in non-conference action.
The Mules muscled a three-goal attack midway through the first half with all three goals coming within a five-minute span. Colby scored in the 13th minute when Misha Strage tallied a goal. Colby took advantage of a penalty corner four minutes later to double the lead. Colby added the final goal of the period in the 19th minute with a goal from Megan Fortier.
The contest stayed 3-0 for much of the second half until Kallie Hutchinson charted the fourth goal of the contest in the 56th minute.
Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and Alyssa Arsenault (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) split time between the pipes as Smith recorded a pair of saves and Arsenault saved six shots. The loss snapped a streak of seven halves for Smith without allowing a goal.
UMaine-Farmington plays its conference opener against New England College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
