Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – A second half scoring attack guided the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team (5-1, 1-0) to a, 5-0, North Atlantic Conference win over New England College (2-8, 0-1) on Saturday at Prescott Field.
Mara Balboni tallied her first of two goals in the 19th minute after receiving a pass through traffic from Lindsey Whitney.
UMF really took off with four goals in the final period, including three in a five-minute span. LeeAnne Greenleaf doubled the Beavers' lead in the 39th minute when Rebecca Young found a way to send a pass through the Pilgrims defense. About thirty seconds later, Sarita Crandall tacked on another goal for Farmington. In the 44th minute, Balboni added her final goal of the matchup with the assist coming from Delainey Kein. Jenessa Talarico added the fifth goal for the Beavers in the 65th minute to give UMF its final margin of victory.
Patty Smith recorded her fifth win of the season with a shutout and saved two shots.
UMaine-Farmington travels to Husson next Saturday to continue conference play.
