Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine- Sophomore forward Lydia Roy (Waterville,Maine/Waterville) scored three second half goals to lead University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer (7-5-0, 5-1-0) to a 5-2 victory over Johnson State (1-11-0, 1-6-0) on Saturday at Leib Field.
Senior forward Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine) got UMF on the board just two minutes into the game, scoring unassisted. Johnson State tied the game in the 35th minute, Kylie Aither scored on break away run on goal to give the Badgers momentum. Hadlee Yescott (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) scored in the 38th minute off a Roy assist to give UMF a 2-1 advantage at the break.
Aither scored in the 54th minute to again bring Johnson State even at 2-2 early in the second half. Roy started her string of three unanswered goals at 62:08, her second goal of the game came at 64:23 giving UMF a 4-2 lead. The last goal being a 32 yard laser into the back of the net for the final margin of victory.
Kiana Thompson (7-4) (Industry, Maine/Mt.Blue) saved one shot to earn the victory in goal. Johnson State goalie Danielle Schreiner saved 16 shots.
UMF out shot Johnson State 41-6 during the game.
UMaine-Farmington travels to Maine Maritime on Tuesday. Johnson State will host Castleton University.
