Mules Race Past Field Hockey in Non-Conference Game

WATERVILLE, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington field hockey (8-4) surrendered five second-half goals en route to a 6-0 loss to Colby College (6-7) in a Non-Conference game on Wednesday.

Colby's Danielle Smith scored the eventual game-winner at 12:54 on an assist from Hannah Hearn giving the Mules a 1-0 lead that would last into the second half.

Hearn registered two goals to start the second half, at 41:45 unassisted and again less than a minute later on an assist from Meredith Keenan.  Keenan scored a goal of her own in the 56th minute on a blast to the left corner, her fifth goal of the season.  Merrill Read scored her seventh goal of the season at 62:05.  McKayla Blanch scored at 69:45 giving Colby the final margin of victory.

Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) registered nine saves in the loss.  Torrie Nightingale (Bangor, Maine/Bangor) was credited with a defensive save.  Riley Whitmyer had one save for her first collegiate shutout.

UMaine-Farmington will be back in conference action when they travel to New England College on Saturday.  Colby will host Hamilton on Saturday.
