Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine- University of Maine at Farmington field hockey (6-2) had its two game winning streak snapped by national power Bowdoin College (8-1) 5-0 on Wednesday at Ryan Field.
Bowdoin was able to score two goals in the first half. Kimmy Ganong scored at 9:44 into the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later Elizabeth Bennewitz scored off a penalty corner giving the Polar Bears the 2-0 lead at the break.
Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) made nine saves in the first half to keep UMF within striking distance.
Bowdoin scored three minutes into the second half on a goal by Kara Finnerty. Juliana Fiore scored unassisted and Ganong would add her second goal of the game for the final margin of victory.
Smith was busy in goal saving 13 total shots. Alyssa Arsenault (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) played the last 24 minutes and saved six shots.
UMaine-Farmington will host Husson on Saturday at 1:00pm. Bowdoin hosts Trinity on Saturday.
