FITCHBURG, Mass. – The University of Maine at Farmington women's outdoor track team ranked among one of the top teams at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Fitchburg State University.
Morgan Crocker (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay) won UMF's first event in the history of the program by topping the competition in the women's triple jump with a time of 10.13. Crocker was near the top of the leaderboard in the 100 meter hurdles, 400 meter hurdles, and long jump events. The freshman finished third in the long jump at 4.56 meters, fifth in the 400 meter hurdles by crossing the line at 1:17.95, and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18:19.
Laura Pulito (Brownfield, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) raced her way to the front in the women's 1,500 and 5,000 meter runs. Pulito placed second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:04.26. The sophomore claimed a top five finish in the 5,000-meter race in fourth place at 20:20.08.
Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) claimed a pair of top five finishes on the afternoon. Humphrey launched her discus 29.42 meters to earn fourth place in the discus throw and leaped 4.26 meters in the long jump to finish fifth.
UMaine-Farmington competes at the Bowdoin Invitational next Saturday.
