HENNIKER, N.H. -- University of Maine at Farmington baseball (17-12, 10-8) swept the weekend and season series from New England College (6-20, 5-13) on Sunday afternoon with a 13-3 win in game one and 8-3 win in game two. 

The Beavers built a 6-2 advantage through the first four innings before the bats came alive in the sixth and seventh inning, including five runs in the sixth inning.

Sean Cabaniss (Vassalboro, Maine/Erskine Academy) was 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in the first game. Grayson Beressi (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) was 2-for-4 with three runs scored. The Beavers had four players tally at least two hits.

Kyle Peterson threw six solid innings and yielded two earned runs with two strikeouts. 

In the second game, UMF had to battle back from two early deficits. NEC plated two runs in the first inning, but UMF came back with a pair in the top of the second. Dustin McCrossin (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) reached on a fielder's choice, but a run was able to score and the senior later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.

The Pilgrims took the lead once more in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single.

UMF bounced back in the fourth inning when McCrossin hit an RBI double into the left center gap and Jimmy Parks (Springvale, Maine/Sanford) lined an RBI single later in the inning.

In the fifth inning, Tom Grady (Whitefield, Maine/Erskine Academy) added an insurance run for the Beavers as the senior blasted a home run to center field.

Cabaniss added the long ball to his arsenal in the seventh inning with a three-run shot to left field for the final margin of victory.

After running into some trouble early, Riley Chickering finished strong and pitched a complete game for the Beavers and set a career-high with eight strikeouts. 

The Beavers matched their season win total from a year ago, the second-most in program history, and won nine of their last ten conference games. \Beressi (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) was 2-for-4 on the afternoon with five runs scored while Cabaniss was 4-for-9 with four RBI and two runs scored. 

UMaine-Farmington travels to Thomas College on Tuesday afternoon.
