Field Hockey Collects Shutout Win at Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – University of Maine at Farmington field hockey (1-0) cruised to a 9-0 shutout victory on Saturday afternoon at Framingham State (0-1) in non-conference action.

UMF used a first half hat trick from Emmah Spahr (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) to grab a 3-0 advantage at the break.

The Beavers' offense kept the ball rolling in the second half with Spahr adding her fourth goal of the contest. UMF's scoring in the final period came from all angles with goals coming from Jenessa Talarico (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston), Kyla Sturtevant (Poland, Maine/Poland), Carly Raymond (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Aratat), Lauren Watson (Clinton, Maine/Lawrence), and Nickyia Lovely (Gardiner, Maine/Gardiner).

Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) picked up the win in goal and made a pair of saves.

UMaine-Farmington stays on the non-conference trail when a showdown at Wheelock College on Sunday.
