Box Score HENNIKER, N.H.—A header goal by senior Jaycie Triandafilou (Newburyport, Mass.) in the 49th minute would be the difference-maker as the third-seed New England College women's soccer team downed the sixth-seed Maine-Farmington Beavers on Saturday afternoon in the North Atlantic Conference quarterfinals.
With the victory, NEC improves to 8-8-2 overall and advances to the NAC semifinals on Tuesday at No. 2 Castleton. UMF sees their season come to a close at 7-11-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was a scoreless battle, despite an 18-2 advantage in shots for NEC. Six of NEC's 18 first-half shots were on-target.
Things changed in the early minutes of the second half, as the Pilgrims earned a corner kick. Nicole Controne's () kick was in perfect reach of Triandafilou's head, and she placed it into the left side of the net for the score.
The Pilgrims packed in the defense from there and held UMF to just one shot-on-goal in the second half.
Overall, NEC held advantages in shots (35-7), shots-on-goal (13-2), and corner kicks (13-2).

NEC netminder Kayla Pugliese (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) tallied two saves in the shutout. UMF's Kiana Thompson tallied 12 saves in defeat.
