Beavers Stumble Against Bowdoin

Brunswick, Maine – UMaine-Farmington fell to Bowdoin College on Wednesday night by a score of 6-1 in non-conference action at Ryan Field in Brunswick.   

BY THE NUMBERS

The Polar Bears held the top spot in shots with 16 to the Beavers eight while each team had four saves. UMF had six corners to the Polar Bears four while Bowdoin had 43 fouls to the Beavers 38.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Polar Bears go on the board early with two goals in the opening 10 minutes. Elle Brine scored at the 5:18-minute mark. Kelsey Bumgardner scored the Polar Bears second goal just two minutes later with an assist to Sarah Jane Weill.

About seven minutes later, Emma Stevens got a goal of her own after taking a pass from Abby Bashaw. The Polar Bears held a 3-0 lead 15 minutes into the game. Three minutes later, Kara Finnerty scored from about eight yards out. The Polar Bears finished the first half with a goal from Sarah Jane to lead 5-0.

The Polar Bears opened up the second half the same way they closed out the first half, with a goal from Sarah Jane Weill to make it 6-0.

The Beavers got a goal on the board late when Kasey Talarico scored to make the score 6-1.

The Beavers will be home on Saturday for senior day when they will face New England College at 2:00 p.m.
