Farmington, Maine – Castleton University sweeps UMaine Farmington in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) double header on Sunday afternoon by a score of 11-1 and 3-2.

The Beavers fall to 6-18 on the year and 0-4 in conference play while Castleton moves to 12-7-1 overall and 4-1 in the NAC.

Game One

The Beavers only had two hits on the day, Elizabeth Walker smoked one to left field for a home run while Kylie Cunningham put one to right field. Kailyn Hill threw all seven innings for the Beavers, giving up 15 hits, nine earned runs with two walks and one strike out. Kayla Wood threw for the Spartans, giving up two hits, one earned run with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Timi Carone went 4-5 with two RBI's and three runs while Kayle Fountain went 3-5 with two RBI's and one run. Jordan Gouger went 3-4 with one RBI.

Game Two

Elizabeth Walker went 2-3 on the day while Kylie Cunningham came up with the clutch two RBI single up the middle. Alison Hamilton also went 2-3 on the day. Anastasia Albright threw all seven for the Beavers, giving up eight hits, two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Taylor Paquetter threw for the Spartans, giving up five hits, two earned runs with two strikeouts.

In the top of the first, the Spartans scored two runs when Tori Swaine grounded out to second which scored Carone. Later that inning, Jordan Gouger singled to center field to score Kayley Fountain. In the top of the second, Carone doubled which scored Sami Carlo from first.

Late in the game, the Beavers made things interesting when Kiana Thompson reached on a fielder's choice followed by Elizabeth Walker singling and advancing to second on the throw to third. Cunningham singled to center to score both and make the game 3-2. Margaret Fogarty then popped out as the Beavers could not get the tying run across.
