Field Hockey Drops Tight Contest To Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. – University of Maine at Farmington Field Hockey lost a tight 1-0 contest to Wellesley College on Saturday at the Wellesley Fields Complex.  The Beavers have lost three consecutive road non-conference contests to start the 2017 season.  Wellesley improved to 2-1 on the season, all at home.

Junior Haley Chrobock scored the game's only goal at 7:43 of the first, as she finished on a crossing hit from Cecie Negron.  Negron raced down the right flank on the play, knocking the ball toward Chrobock and junior Rachel Hwang, before Chrobock knocked it into the cage.


Wellesley finished the first half with an 11-8 advantage in shots but the contest remained 1-0. In the second, Wellesley outshot UMaine-Farmington, 12-4. The Blue ended the game with a 23-12 edge in shots.

UMaine-Farmington senior goalkeeper Alyssa Arsenault made a career-high 11 saves on 12 Wellesley shots on goal in the game.  Senior forward Carly Raymond lead the offense with four shots (3 on goal).

UMaine-Farmington will play its fourth consecutive road game when they travel to Southern on Wednesday, at 4 PM
