Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington field hockey dropped a hard-fought game at conference-leading Thomas College on Saturday. UMF, after dropping behind 2-0 in the first half scored two goals before halftime to tie the game. Thomas scored the lone goal and eventual game-winner in the second half for a 3-2 victory. With the victory Thomas moves to 10-7 overall and 3-0 in the North Atlantic Conference(NAC), UMF drops to 1-11 overall and 0-3 in NAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thomas forward Britney Gregoire scored at 6:18 of the first half, assisted by Lindsey Gregoire to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Terriers scored again on a goal by Allie Gregoire, assisted by Kelci Faulkingham for a 2-0 lead.
- UMF responded less than two minutes later on an unassisted goal by Kasey Talarico.
- The Beavers tied the game with a Torrie Nightingale goal with the assist to Andrea Stemm.
- Gregoire scored the game-winner in the 56th minute.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Thomas held an 11-3 advantage in total shots, holding UMF to no shots in the second half.
- Thomas also held the advantage in penalty corners 7-3.
- Grace DiMarco made five saves on eights shots on goal for the Beavers.
- MacKenzie Oberholzer (4-4) didn't make a save to get the win in goal for the Terriers.
- Marineau's goal was her third of the season.
- The goal by Nightingale was her first of 2018.
