Field hockey upended at #12 Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine – A three-goal run from the Polar Bears in just over a minute in the first quarter helped propel No. 12 Bowdoin College to a 6-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey squad, Tuesday evening at Ryan Field.

Bowdoin posted a 4-0 lead over the opening 15 minutes with goals from Bailey Prete, Maya Malenfant, Faith Jennings, and Hanna Wurdack.

Olivia Cunningham extended the Polar Bears' lead to 5-0 in the opening minute of the second quarter. Sophia Rosati capped the scoring at the 9:51 mark of the fourth quarter for the 6-0 final.

Katelyn Rouleau started the game in goal for the Beavers and tallied 10 saves. Alicia Bridges came on to start the third quarter and charted three stops. UMaine-Farmington was outshot 25-0, and Bowdoin had 14 penalty corners over the 60 minutes of play.

UMaine-Farmington field hockey returns to New England Collegiate Conference play this Saturday, Oct. 2, when it faces Thomas College. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
