Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FARMINGTON, Maine -- Northern Vermont University-Lyndon rallied for a win in game one and then came out on top in a slugfest in game two as the University of Maine at Farmington baseball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader to the Hornets, 6-3 and 23-14, on Sunday afternoon at Hippach Field.

In Sunday's first game, the Beavers rallied with single runs in the first, fourth, and fifth innings to take a one-run lead over the Hornets, after giving up an early two-run advantage to NVU-Lyndon in the first inning. Jonny Pruett doubled home Matt Haines in the home half of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2, and Riley Bartell gave UMaine-Farmington a 3-2 lead with his solo home run to left field in the fifth.

The home run was the 10th of Riley's UMaine-Farmington career.

Northern Vermont-Lyndon responded with four runs in the top of the sixth, all of them off home runs. Skylar Bushey hit a two-run home run just inside the left field foul pole, also scoring TJ Santaw, and Tyler Murro hit another two-run shot later in the frame to score Carlos Batista for the 6-3 final score.

Bartell and Derek Gendreau each went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Beavers in game one, while Santaw paced the Hornets with a 3-for-4 hitting effort.

In game two, UMaine-Farmington and NVU-Lyndon combined for 37 hits and 10 errors in the nearly three-and-a-half-hour contest, with the Beavers' Troy Johnson and the Hornets' Dylan Wilson each hitting round-trippers.

NVU-Lyndon put up two runs in the second inning and three in the third, and each team put five runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning, leaving the Hornets with a 10-5 lead.

A seven-run uprising by NVU-Lyndon in the sixth left the Hornets with a 19-9 lead after six complete.

Ryan Sargent recorded three RBIs in game two on 2-for-6 batting, while Will Cauchon was 3-for-6 with two runs scored. Tyler Lambert also crossed the plate for four UMF runs with two RBIs.

UMaine-Farmington and Northern Vermont-Lyndon complete their four-game NAC series on Monday, April 18, with a doubleheader at 12:00 p.m. at Hippach Field.
