Beavers Finish 5th at NAC Championship

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The University of Maine at Farmington wrapped up day two of the 2024 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Golf Championship earlier this afternoon, placing 5th overall with a two-day score of 685 (+117).

Husson University repeated as NAC Champions, topping SUNY Delhi by 12 strokes. The Eagles finished 28-over par for the two-day tournament at the Chicopee Country Club.

Beaver Golfers:

After a brilliant first round in which he was tied for 3rd place individually, senior Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon, Maine) could not replicate that success today. LaRochelle III finished with an 86 (+15) on the day and tied for 10th overall in the tournament. He carded one birdie, tallying a three on the par-four 14th hole, and finished with matching 43s on both the front and back nines. For the tournament, LaRochelle III shot a 162 (+20).

Senior Jack Burton (Saco, Maine) also didn't have his best round, carding an 88 (+17) for a total of 169 (+27) overall across the two-day tournament, placing him 22nd. Today, Burton recorded matching 44s on both the front and back nines and made one birdie, finishing with a three on the par-four 9th hole.

Senior Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) was the top Beaver on the course today, finishing with a 14-over par 85. Over the two days of the tournament, Frey finished in 23rd place with a score of 173 (+31). He shot a 42 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine. Although Frey did not card a birdie, he stayed out of significant trouble throughout the round, recording just two double bogeys.

First-year Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine) improved by five strokes from his first round, finishing with an 88 (+17). For the tournament, Boinske was 39-over par, carding a 181 and placing 31st individually. He recorded one birdie, making a three on the par-four 9th hole for the second consecutive day.

Senior Derick Capp (Winslow, Maine) was the Beavers' fifth golfer but did not contribute to the team's overall score. Capp finished in 43rd place overall for the tournament, shooting a 224 (+82).

The 5th place finish at the NAC Championship marks the end of the 2024 season for the Beavers.
