FARMINGTON, Maine – A pair of University of Maine at Farmington men's golfers were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team earlier this afternoon, as announced by the organization. Derick Capp (Winslow, Maine) and Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon Falls, Maine) were listed on the CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team.
The CSC's At-Large Academic All-District Teams include student-athletes who compete at the NCAA level in men's fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. At the University of Maine at Farmington, golf is the only NCAA sport that is included in the At-Large program.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District team for golf, athletes must have scored in 67% of their team's matches or have been a scoring member at the conference tournament, while also holding a 3.50 grade point average or better and being in at least their sophomore season.
Capp was a senior this past year for the Beavers. He did not compete during the regular season, but made his 2024 debut at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship at the Chicopee Country Club in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Capp shot a 40-over par 111 in round one before shooting a 42-over, 113 in the second round. Overall, Capp placed 43rd in the Championship.
LaRochelle III returns to the CSC Academic All-District team for the second straight season and graduated this past May with a degree in School Health Education. LaRochelle had a strong four-year career on the course for the Beavers, finishing his senior season with an 18-hole average of 80.07. LaRochelle was named to the NAC Second Team All-Conference this past season after tying for tenth overall at the NAC Championship. LaRochelle opened the two-day tournament tied for third after scoring a five-over, 76. He came back to shoot a 15-over, 86 in round two, finishing 20-over par for the event. During the regular season, LaRochelle was one of the Beavers' most reliable golfers, breaking 80 five times while also never shooting higher than 85.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student- athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
NCAA and NAIA Men's At-Large Academic All-America® First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. (The Women's At-Large Teams will be announced on Tuesday, July 8.)
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
