Golf Finishes 7th at Mariner Invitational

MANCHESTER, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team took 7th overall at today's Mariner Invitational hosted by Maine Maritime Academy at the Augusta Country Club. The top-four scoring Beavers combined to shoot 335 (+55).

Beaver Golfers:

The Beavers were led on the course by senior Jack Burton (Saco, Maine) and first-year Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine) who each shot matching 79s (+9).

Burton played out of the one-spot today for the Beavers, and shot a 39 (+4) on the front nine and a 40 (+5) on the back nine. Burton finished with nine pars and nine bogeys for his round.

The 79 from Boinske was his lowest round of his young career. Similarly to Burton, Boinske shot a 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine. Boinske finished with ten pars for the day en route tying for 13th overall at the invitational.

Finishing behind Burton and Boinske was senior Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon, Maine) who tied for 22nd overall. LaRochelle III carded an 82 (+12) for the round after shooting matching 41s on the front and the back nine. LaRochelle III also carded 10 pars for the day.

Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) played out of the three-spot today for the Beavers and carded a 95 (+25) en route to placing tied for 42nd overall. Frey shot a 47 on the front nine and a 48 on the back.

First-year Jackson Forrest was the fifth Beaver competing today. Forrest finished with a 106 (+36) for the round with a 55 on the front nine and a 51 on the back nine.

The Beavers have some time off before returning to action on October 3rd back at the Waterville Country Club.
