OAKLAND, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington suffered a loss to Thomas College on Tuesday afternoon in a dual match hosted by the Beavers at Waterville Country Club. The Terriers shot a 49-over par 329 to top the Beavers, who combined for a 68-over par 348 in the loss.
AJ Davis of Thomas was the individual winner, shooting a four-over 76, with three birdies to secure the win by four strokes.
BEAVER GOLFERS:
Beaver number-one golfer Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon, Maine) had a solid round, finishing with an 81. LaRochelle III posted a 42 on the front nine before improving to a 39 on the back nine. He carded birdies on the par-four seventh, par-five ninth, and par-four 18th holes.
Jack Burton (Saco, Maine) posted matching 42s on both the front and back nine, finishing with an 84. Burton ended with six pars and no birdies.
Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) finished just three strokes behind Burton, with an 87 after a 43 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine. Frey carded one birdie on the 488-yard par-five third hole.
Joey Wellman-Clouse (Bar Harbor, Maine) was the fourth and final Beaver to contribute to the team's score, shooting a 96 with a 49 on the front nine and a 47 on the back nine.
Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine) played as the fifth golfer for the Beavers, shooting a 105 and not contributing to the team's overall score. Forrest struggled with a 59 on the front nine but improved on the back nine, carding a 46.
Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine) and Gillean Hamilton also participated in the event in an exhibition capacity. Boinske shot a 94, while Hamilton finished with a 107.

The Beavers will travel to Casco, Maine, to compete in the 21st annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament at Point Sebago Golf Club, hosted by Saint Joseph's College.
