Harvey Garners NAC Rookie of the Week Honors

WATERVILLE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington first-year standout Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time in his collegiate career, the conference office announced Monday.

Harvey competed in a pair of events last week, pacing the Beavers in each. He made his collegiate debut on Wednesday at the John Queenan Memorial hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine at Point Sebago. Playing out of the top spot for UMF, Harvey held his own in a strong 40-golfer field, carding a seven-over-par 79. The smooth-swinging lefty recorded two birdies on the day and finished 14th overall.

On Saturday, Harvey and the Beavers took part in the USM Cup at Riverside Golf Course in Portland, Maine. The Ryder Cup-style event featured twosomes competing in a mix of scramble, best-ball, and alternate-shot formats. Due to weather and course conditions, the tournament was shortened to 13 holes. Harvey partnered with sophomore Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine), and the duo placed 11th out of 15 teams. The pair finished three-over par through the 13 holes, highlighted by two birdies.

Harvey becomes the first Beaver to earn NAC Rookie of the Week honors since Joe Messerman in October 2010.

UMaine-Farmington returns to action on Saturday at the Husson Invitational, held at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
