FARMINGTON, Maine – For the first time in her collegiate career, University of Maine at Farmington senior
Bayley Casavant (Corinth, Maine) has been named the Central Maine Collegiate Field Hockey (CMCFHC) Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Casavant was a standout for the Beavers last week, helping lead the team to a 1-1 record and improving their overall mark to 2-2 on the season.
Serving as a defensive anchor in the early part of the year after transitioning primarily to that role, Casavant made key contributions on both ends of the field. In Friday's road matchup against a high-powered Bridgewater State offense, she recorded both a goal and a defensive save in a hard-fought 10-4 setback.
In the second quarter, Casavant made a brilliant individual play, clearing a loose ball that had trickled onto the goal line to keep the game at 1-0. She later tallied her first collegiate goal in the fourth quarter, hammering home a loose ball in front of the cage.
The honor marks the first Athlete of the Week award of the 2025 season for the Beavers, and the first since
Elizabeth Kendall earned CMCFHC Defensive Player of the Week recognition on October 8, 2024.
