Beavers Compete in First Slopestyle Event of the Season

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's freeski and snowboard team competed in their first slopestyle event of the season on Sunday. The event was held at Sugarloaf.

Farmington had five total competitors, all of them freeskiers. Logan Dube (Phillips, Maine) was the lone Beaver to compete in the 17-18 year old division with Maxwell Hamilton (Brunswick, Maine), Arden Weaver (Surry, Maine), Clay Gregg (Mapleton, Maine), and Dylan Gagnon (Hudson, N.H.) competing in the 19-29 year old division. 

For Dube, his best score came on his second where he scored a 44.00. The score for Dube earned him fourth place overall in his division, finishing 6.33 points out of a place on the podium.

Hamilton topped the field in the 19-29 year old division after his best run received a judge's score of 46.67 to earn the gold medal. Weaver took home silver after his second run was scored a 40.00. Gregg brought home third, narrowly earning the bronze medal over Gagnon who placed fourth. Gregg's second run and best run was scored a 38.33. Gagnon sat in first place after his best run was highest of the four, but could not put together a score high enough to hold on in run two. Gagnon's first run was scored 36.33.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will return to the slopes on Friday at Sunday River for another slopestyle event.
