WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team showed well on Friday evening at the Colby Mini Meet in Waterville. The event was a non-team scoring meet that included nine total events.
Top Beavers Performances:
Junior Hannah Milliken (Greene, Maine) and first-year Ashley Roy (Turner, Maine) earned first- and second-place finishes, respectively, with nearly identical times in the 60-meter dash. Milliken finished with a time of 9.34 seconds, while Roy posted a time of 9.39 seconds.
First-year Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) earned a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 1:54.65 in the 600 meters.
In the 1,000 meters, sophomore Monica Lewis (Windham, Maine) ran a time of 4:00.52 on her way to a sixth-place finish.
In the 3,000 meters, junior Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) and first-year Alayna Marchessault (Thomaston, Maine) each placed inside the top ten with ninth- and tenth-place finishes, respectively. MacDonald finished in 13:33.87, while Marchessault completed the race in 14:40.49.
Farmington had the top three finishers in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) was first, Alexander was second, and first-year Sadie Pierce (China, Maine) placed third. Johnson posted a time of 10.12 seconds, Alexander earned a time of 11.39 seconds, while Pierce finished in 11.64 seconds.
Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), Alexander, and Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine) all placed in the top four of the high jump. Todd earned second place, clearing the 1.43-meter bar on her third attempt. Alexander also cleared the 1.43-meter bar on her third attempt to place third. Syphers cleared the 1.38-meter bar to place fourth.
Johnson, Jenney Lutz (Lebanon, N.H.), and Pierce all earned top-three finishes in the long jump. Johnson's furthest attempt was narrowly farther than Lutz's to claim the top spot. Johnson's best jump measured 4.78 meters, while Lutz's was 4.75 meters. Pierce's best jump measured 4.56 meters as she earned third place.
In the weight throw, first-year Natalie Simpson (Bucksport, Maine) took home second place with a throw of 11.81 meters. Roy was seventh with her best throw coming in at 9.25 meters, and Milliken's best throw measured 7.88 meters to place eighth.

Farmington will head to Massachusetts next Friday and Saturday to compete in the Harvard Invitational.
