Johnson Sets Triple Jump Program Record at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts - University of Maine at Farmington senior Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) delivered a pair of strong performances, including setting a new program record in the triple jump, on Saturday afternoon at the Harvard Invitational.

In an event that featured several of the top NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions from the New England region, Johnson performed extremely well in each event she competed in on Saturday. Johnson earned a sixth-place finish in the triple jump en route to her record-setting mark, with her furthest jump measured at 10.92 meters. She also added a 13th-place finish in the long jump, with a best mark of 5.16 meters.

First-year Sadie Pierce (China, Maine) competed alongside Johnson in both the triple jump and the long jump. Pierce placed 29th overall in the long jump, with her top attempt measuring 4.76 meters. In the triple jump, her furthest jump reached 10.02 meters, earning her a 20th-place finish.

Sophomore Emma Syphers (Bangor, Maine) also competed in the long jump and placed just one spot ahead of Pierce, earning 28th overall. Syphers reached 4.81 meters on her best attempt.

Junior standout Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) performed well in a loaded field in the mile. Out of 75 runners in the event, Martinez Nocito finished 39th overall after posting a time of 5:29.11.

Senior distance runner Eve Poteet (Fair Hill, Md.) competed in the 3,000 meters, finishing in 12:12.61 and earning 50th overall.

First-year Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) competed in the 400 meters, placing 51st overall with a time of 1:07.79.

Senior Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine) posted a time of 27.48 seconds in the 200 meters, running to a 53rd-place finish. The time for Todd puts her second in program history.

Farmington's 4x440-meter relay team of Todd, Alexander, Poteet, and Martinez Nocito placed 16th overall, finishing in 4:42.82.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will be back in action next Saturday at the Maine State Championships hosted at Bates College.
