Buchholz’s First Start Earns Him NAC Co-Rookie of the Week Honors

WATERVILLE, Maine — University of Maine at Farmington first-year pitcher William Buchholz (Maynard, Mass.) has been named North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Co-Rookie of the Week.

Buchholz made a brief appearance against Framingham State, pitching one-third of an inning without allowing a run.

The following day, Buchholz was given the start and faced the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. His first start was memorable, as he held the Blugolds to two runs—only one earned—while striking out two over six innings for the Beavers. He limited traffic on the bases, allowing just six runners to reach, and posted a WHIP of 1.00 for the game.

Buchholz finished the Florida trip with a 1.23 earned run average, which currently leads UMF.

UMF's next game is Wednesday, when they travel to Lewiston to face Bates at 3 p.m.
