NEW LONDON, Connecticut – Junior Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) and first-year Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) represented the University of Maine at Farmington track and field team over the weekend at the two-day Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College.
Martinez Nocito competed in the 5,000 meters on Friday, finishing 31st overall in a field of 46 runners with a time of 18:49.90.
Alexander took part in the heptathlon, which began on Friday and concluded on Saturday. She totaled 3,455 points to earn a seventh-place finish overall. Alexander turned in a strong all-around performance, highlighted by a second-place finish in the javelin (31.33 meters).
Her event-by-event results are as follows:
- 100-meter hurdles – 7th (18.31)
- High jump – 4th (1.40m)
- Shot put – 4th (9.18m)
- 200 meters – 9th (29.47)
- Long jump – 7th (4.65m)
- Javelin – 2nd (31.33m)
- 800 meters – 6th (2:44.56)
