FARMINGTON -- Andrea Tyler (Augusta, ME) had a goal and an assist as the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team improved to 2-1 with a 3-0 win over St. Joseph's on Tuesday at Prescott Field.
Kristin Chambers (Gorham, ME) gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead when she knocked in a loose ball that had gone off St. Joseph's netminder Kathleen Simoes' pads at 13:46.
Tyler pushed the advantage to 2-0 at 43:51 on a conversion of a Nicole Lyons (Cape Elizabeth, ME) feed and Ashley Wentworth (North Berwick, ME) completed the scoring when she slammed in a Tyler pass at 58:46
UMF goalkeeper Kaeleigh Barker (Chicester, NH) turned back five shots in the shutout victory. The Beavers held a 13-7 advantage in shots and a 10-5 command in penalty corners.
Simoes finished with six saves for the Monks (4-2).
UMF is scheduled to return to action on Thursday at the University of Southern Maine.
