Box Score FARMINGTON -- Emma Deans (Gorham, ME) tallied two goals to help the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team rally to take a 3-2 North Atlantic Conference victory over Simmons College today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (4-3 overall, 2-0 in the NAC) are off until next weekend when they are scheduled to visit to St. Joseph's College on Saturday. The Sharks (1-8, 0-2) are slated to visit Western New England College Thursday.
After the Sharks scored twice in the first 9:21 of the second half to take a 2-1 lead, Deans knocked in a push ahead by Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, ME) to tie the contest at 2-2 at 57:07. Deans cashed in a pass by Annie Agnew (Guilford, ME) for the game-winner at 63:20.
St. Pierre opened the scoring 11:03 into the game off a pass by Hattie Agnew (Guilford, ME) for a 1-0 Beaver lead, but the hosts could not pad their advantage before halftime. Simmons carried play of out intermission with Emily Sypher (Orono, ME) tying the game on an unassisted marker at 41:28. The Sharks persisted and Brigid Rushe (Belmont, ME) scored off a long pass by Lee Sutherland (Saugus, ME) as the visitors stake a 2-1 edge before Deans powered the Beavers to the 3-2 win.
Felisha Taylor (Chelsea, ME) recorded six saves for Farmington, which held a 17-12 advantage in shots.
Jen Szkolt (Bondsville, MA) made six saves for Simmons.
