Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – The University of Maine Farmington field hockey team came away with a 4-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Sunday afternoon.
The Beavers even their overall record to 6-6 and improve to 6-2 in conference play, which is good for a tie for second place. Colby-Sawyer dips to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the NAC.
Sophomore Chelsea Morley (York, Maine/York) put the visitors on top in the 20th minute when she found the back of the cage with her fourth goal of the season.
The Chargers were able to keep the Beavers off the board for the rest of the first frame after being outshot 9-1.
UMaine-Farmington increased its advantage to 2-0 in shortly into the second half on a goal from junior Kaitlyn Bullen (New Sharon, Maine/Mt. Blue). The goal was set up by senior Annie Agnew (Guilford, Maine/Piscataquis Community).
The Beavers were in control of the game and doubled their score on a pair of goals from senior Emma Daniel (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) to take the 4-0 win.
Sophomore goalie Curran Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) made two saves en route to the shutout. Colby-Sawyer keeper Jodi Dumayne stopped 12 shots in the loss.
UMaine-Farmington held a 20-2 edge in shots and a 19-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Beavers host Thomas College at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Prescott Field.
