Field Hockey Bounces Back, Wins 11-0 at Daniel Webster

NASHUA, N.H. – The UMaine-Farmington field hockey team bounced back and used a balanced attack to top Daniel Webster, 11-0 in a non-conference meeting Sunday afternoon at Harvey Woods Field.

The Beavers (3-1) scored six times in the first half and added five more in the second to send the Eagles to their second loss of the season in the first meeting between the two programs. UMF outshot the Eagles 46-0 and have outshot their opponent, averaging 30 shots per game.

Four different Beavers scored at least two goals. Delainey Kein got UMF on the board with a goal in the 11th minute. Emmah Spahr scored her first goal of the game and career after getting the assist from Andrea Beaulieu. Carly Raymond increased the deficit to 3-0 with a goal in the 18th minute after Chelsea Morley sent her a pass, creating the scoring opportunity.

Raymond added another goal in the 27th minutes, this time getting the assist from Kein. Sarita Crandall also scored her first career goals in the first half, notching her first one in the 30th minute and adding the second one just before the end of the half, with Morley getting another assist.

The Beavers came out the break with a 6-0 lead Mara Balboni kept the momentum in UMF's favor. The junior added a goal two minutes into the second half and then added her second goal of the game in the 39th minute, Crandall on the assist.

UMF would get the final three goals unassisted. Lindsey Whitney scored her first goal of the season in the 53rd minutes, Beaulieu would add another in the 55th minute, and Spahr would add to her career total in the 61st minute.

Patty Smith did not record a save in the game, but improves to 3-1 on the season. Eagles goal Daniel Melanson earns the loss, but saved 23 shot attempts this afternoon. 

The Beavers will travel to Colby Wednesday, September 17th for a night game at 7:00pm.
