Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – University of Farmington women's soccer (7-9-0, 5-3-0) dropped a North Atlantic Conference match-up to Colby-Sawyer (7-9-0, 5-3-0) on a rain-soaked Leib Field on Saturday.
Senior midfielder Lizzie Jorgenson got the Charges on the board first at 13:06. Olivia Kurowski put the initial shot on goal that bounced off the right post and found the waiting Jorgenson who fired it in.
UMF had its best chance to score in the first half, Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/ Scarborough) ripped a shot from 35 yards out that looked like it would get over Charger's keeper Sam Mitchell's head, Mitchell recovered in time to deflect the ball into the crossbar for the save.
Neil McQueeney scored in the 38th minute to give Colby-Sawyer the 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Beavers has another great opportunity to pull within a goal. Hadlee Yescott (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) received a pass from Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) and found herself one on one with Mitchell. Mitchell once again was able to make the save to keep the Beavers off the board.
Rachel Quaye scored at 55:13 on a charge down the right side. UMF would get on the board in the 88th minute, Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) scored off a rebound of her own penalty shot that was initially saved by keeper Marissa Williams.
Mitchell would save all four shots she faced to record the win. Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt.Blue) saved 13 shots in the loss.
UMaine-Farmington will host New England College on Sunday, it will be Senior Day. Colby-Sawyer travels to Thomas College to take on the Terriers.
