Written by: Aaron Goschke '25

FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington baseball program earned multiple North Atlantic Conference (NAC) accolades following the conclusion of the 2025 season. Senior right-handed pitcher and biology major Will Harriman (Biddeford, Maine) was named the NAC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, highlighting his outstanding academic and athletic contributions. Junior pitcher Jameson Bloch (Attleboro, Mass.) was honored as a Second Team All-NAC selection after an impressive season on the mound. Additionally, senior first baseman Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine) received recognition on the NAC Sportsmanship Team for his exemplary character and leadership.

Will Harriman – Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year

The NAC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually to a graduating senior who exemplifies academic excellence, athletic achievement, and strong character, selected by conference coaches and Faculty Athletic Representatives.

Harriman, a magna cum laude graduate with a 3.819 GPA in Biology/Pre-Med and a minor in Mathematics, distinguished himself academically while excelling as a multi-sport athlete at UMF. A two-year captain in basketball and one-year captain in baseball, Harriman was recognized as a leader both on and off the field.

His impressive academic and research achievements include:
  • Published author in General and Comparative Endocrinology for his research on gene expression in green-spotted pufferfish.
  • Undergraduate Research Fellow through the Maine IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE), completing a summer research project at the University of New England on pain sensitization in fruit fly larvae.
  • Three-time NAC All-Academic Team selection (2022-24) and two-time College Sports Communicators District All-Academic Team selection in baseball (2023 & 2024).

Athletically, Harriman contributed on the mound for UMF baseball, logging 17 innings with 15 strikeouts this spring. He also earned NAC and Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association Player of the Week honors in January 2024.

Beyond competition, Harriman served UMF Athletics as a Special Projects Assistant for four years, volunteered as a biology tutor, and represented UMF as the Morgan's Message mental health advocate. He was also actively involved as a volunteer coach at youth baseball clinics at the Maine Sports Factory.

Harriman will continue his academic pursuits this fall, beginning a Master of Science in Biology at the University of New England.

Jameson Bloch  – Second Team All-NAC (Pitcher)

Jameson Bloch (Attleboro, Mass.) earned a spot on the North Atlantic Conference Second Team as a pitcher following a strong junior campaign for the Beavers. Bloch posted an impressive 2.55 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in conference play, highlighted by a complete-game shutout against UMaine-Presque Isle on April 29, where he allowed just three hits and recorded six strikeouts over seven innings.

Overall, Bloch finished the year with a 4.97 ERA, two saves, and 16 strikeouts across 29 innings pitched. In addition to his contributions on the mound, Bloch played a key role offensively for UMF, regularly filling the designated hitter spot and making several appearances in right field. His consistent production made him an integral part of the Beavers' lineup throughout the 2025 season.

Ryan Sargent – NAC Sportsmanship Team

The NAC Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional integrity, respect, and character on the field, as selected by conference coaches.

Sargent, a senior from Windham, Maine, led UMF's offense with a team-best .364 batting average and .982 OPS, ranking among the top hitters in the NAC. He started all 36 games, leading the Beavers in hits (43), home runs (4), RBI (27), total bases (64), slugging percentage (.542), and on-base percentage (.440). His consistent play and positive demeanor set a strong example for teammates and opponents alike.
