Written By: Aaron Goschke '25

FARMINGTON, Maine – The Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) recently unveiled its postseason honors, spotlighting the best collegiate baseball talent in the state following the 2025 campaign. Among those recognized was University of Maine at Farmington senior infielder Ryan Sargent (Windham, ME), who secured a well-deserved spot on the MCBSA All-State Second Team after a standout senior season filled with historic achievements.

Sargent was a cornerstone for the Beavers throughout 2025, starting all 36 games and consistently delivering exceptional offensive production. He posted an impressive .364 batting average while driving in 27 runs, launching four home runs, and hitting nine doubles. Sargent opened the season on a high note, recording hits in each of the first ten games to establish an early rhythm that carried him through a record-setting year.

Highlighting his impressive season, Sargent produced several memorable performances, most notably an explosive outing against NAC rival Thomas College on April 4, where he went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a career-best seven RBIs in a decisive UMF victory. Later, on April 28 against Maine-Presque Isle, Sargent continued to shine with a 3-for-5 performance, adding a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Beyond these standout individual games, Sargent made his mark permanently on UMF baseball history. He concluded his collegiate career as the Beavers' all-time leader in hits (171), RBIs (100), doubles (38), and games played (156). Additionally, he finished second all-time in program history with 19 home runs. These milestones cemented his legacy as one of the most productive, reliable, and impactful hitters ever to wear a UMF uniform.

Sargent's MCBSA All-State Second Team recognition is a fitting capstone to an outstanding collegiate career and highlights his significant role in guiding the Beavers throughout the 2025 season.
