Gail Sanborn graduated from UMF in 1994 with a degree in Secondary Education.

A two-sport standout at UMF, Sanborn played women’s volleyball and softball for the Beavers. She also played a season and served as a student assistant coach for the women’s basketball team.

In softball, Sanborn was named All-State and  NAIA All-Star catcher. She holds the record for career batting average (.491)and hits (149). Her single-season batting averages of .583 as a senior and .555 as a freshman stand 1-2 in the school’s books. For her efforts, Sanborn was named team MVP in three seasons.

In women’s volleyball, Sanborn was honored as the NAIA District 5 Player of the Year and the Maine Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Player of the Year in 1993. She also garnered All-State and NAIA All-Star accolades and the team’s 110% Award and the Defensive Player of the Year.

At the time of her induction, Gail resided in Portland and was employed as the General Manager of Borders in South Portland.
