As Director of Athletics, Len initiated the Athletics Hall of Fame, an athletics newsletter, and the Friends of UMF Athletics fund-raising program.  As a basketball coach, Len earned numerous Coach of the Year awards with both teams. The men’s team won 322 games during Len's time as the coach. The women’s program is most notable for its back-to-back appearances in the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 1995 and 1996.  After his retirement Len transitioned into becoming a pastor of the Rangeley Free Baptist Church.
