John M. Ryan graduated from UMF in 1991 with a degree in Geology/Chemistry.

Ryan captained the Beaver baseball team in 1990 and 1991 and helped UMF to two of its most successful seasons at 19-8 (1988) and 16-8 (1991). He was honored as the team MVP and All-Conference in his senior season. He is third in school history in strikeouts (139) and fourth in wins (14) and earned-run average (3.75).

At the time of his induction, John resided in Ridgeland, Mississippi, where he was an environmental project manager for Ergon, Inc., in Jackson, Mississippi. He also has served as a youth all-sport coach and as a volunteer for STEWPOT, a group that helps feed the poor and homeless.

He has continued to play baseball as he established and coached/played for the Jackson Reds, a semi-pro adult baseball team.
