Rebecca Vaughan Walker graduated from UMF in 1997 with a degree in Elementary Education.

Walker stands as a premier softball pitcher in UMF history. She maintains career records in wins (50), strikeouts (302),shutouts (20) and earned-run average (1.03). For her efforts, she was honored as the team’s Rookie of the Year in 1994, Most Valuable Player in 1995 and Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. She also was recognized outside of Farmington as the Maine Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Co-Rookie of the Year and All-Star Team.

Walker resided in Plymouth and was employed as a kindergarten teacher in School Administrative District 53 in Pittsfield, Maine at the time of her induction.

Beyond UMF, Walker has continued to stay involved in athletics. She has taught her trade with pitching clinics for girls in grades 5-8 and coaching several girls in her community to pitch windmill. She also served as an assistant for the softball team at Maine Central Institute and coached a 7-10-year-old Farm League baseball team.
